Got Wrinkles On Your Forehead? 2 Treatment Options To Smooth Out Your Skin

Posted on: 22 December 2020

If you have wrinkles on your forehead, there are things you can do to smooth them out. Below are two of these to help you decide which option would be best for you.

Botox

Botox is a treatment that is often used to treat a variety of wrinkles found on the face, such as forehead wrinkles. Botox is made of a toxin that temporarily relaxes and paralyzes the muscles on your forehead. Your wrinkles with then become smooth, and they will be much less noticeable.

Botox is given to you by injection and it is done in the doctor's office. You cannot touch the area where you received the injections for a few hours after treatment. The injection site may be red and sore for a few hours.

Botox injections last around four months. After this time, you will have to go back to get Botox injections again in order to keep your wrinkles smoothed out. This does depend on the person, however, and your results may last longer or shorter than average.

Skin Resurfacing

Another option for smoothing skin is skin resurfacing, which is done using a laser. This is a more permanent option compared to other procedures. The laser stimulates the amount of collagen that is produced. Collagen is what makes your skin look plump and healthy. This will likely take more than one treatment if you have a lot of wrinkles on your forehead.

The doctor has the choice to use a nonablative laser, which is less intensive, and an ablative laser which is known as a wounding laser. The nonablative laser promotes collagen production. The ablative laser removes the epidermis, which is the outer layer of your skin. The laser then heats the dermis, which is the skin under the epidermis. This will cause more collagen to grow. An ablative laser is more intense but will give you the best results.

Skin resurfacing can also be used to treat other imperfections on the face. For example, the doctor can use the laser to even out your skin tone, remove scars you may have from acne, injury, or have sun damage. Laser resurfacing can also help with sagging skin.

Talk with a dermatologist about these two treatment options and they can give you many more details about them. The dermatologist can tell you of other ways you have to get rid of your forehead wrinkles, such as using antiaging creams, drinking more water, etc.
