Tips For Using Your Home Microneedling Tool Effectively
Posted on: 28 July 2016
If you have purchased a dermaroller, dermapen, or dermastamp, you might not know exactly what to do with it or how you should work it into your existing beauty routine. Here are some tips for making sure that you are using your microneedling tool effectively.
1. Use It On Scars
The most effective way to use your microneedling tool is on your scars. Scar tissue is a form of skin that formed really quickly in order to make sure that whatever wound you sustained is healed within a short period of time. This protects your body from disease and keeps the wound from getting infected, but it results in skin that might not look as good as you would prefer. Microneedling breaks down the skin very slightly and gives it the chance to grow back more slowly, allowing the appearance of the scar to disappear. If you use the microneedling tool reliably on your scars, you will likely have good results.
2. Don't Use it Every Day
You need to use the microneedling tool reliably in order to see results, but you definitely should not be using the tool every day. The reason is that you are actively wounding the skin. If you wound the skin too often within a short period of time, you are not going to reduce the amount of scar tissue you have or the scar that you see because your body is going to get freaked out by the wounds that it is sustaining and try to heal them really quickly, creating more scar tissue than you might have had before. Instead of using it every day, try using it once every three to four days. If you are not getting the results you want, try using it once every two to three days but switch back to every three to four days if you start seeing more scar tissue.
3. Put Your Facial Products On After Using It
Finally, there is some evidence that microneedling helps your skincare products to go deeper into the skin and therefore work faster and more effectively. Try applying these products right after you perform your microneedling in order to make sure that you increase their penetration. This has the potential to help make your skin look better overall.
4. Try It On Your Cellulite
Although microneedling won't get rid of your cellulite, it can increase circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
